Lärarförbundet - The Swedish Teachers' Union - gathers teachers from the entire education system in Sweden. Membership in Lärarförbundet is voluntary and cost approximately one percent of the wage. It is a union that strengthens its every member.
Those who can be members of Lärarförbundet are teachers working in:
- Preschool class
- Leisure-time centers
- Other pedagogical activities
- Compulsory school
- Upper secondary school
- Adult education
- Supplementary school
- Folk high schools (independent adult education colleges)
- Higher vocational education
- Universities and university colleges
- Heads of Schools, teacher students and retired teachers can also be members
Generally, membership dues are deducted from the salary, but some private employers do not accept the check-off system so members employed by them have to pay individually. Students and retired members pay very low dues.
